I’m often asked-Do I make my own pie dough? The answer is yes! I thought I should share my recipe when making the Perfect Pie Dough. It literally takes only 5 minutes to make, using five ingredients. You can premake and refrigerate up to 3 days, wrap well in plastic wrap. Make sure to take your dough out and let stand to get to room temperature before rolling it out. Yes, you can also freeze up to 3 months, again take out of freezer, thaw and get to room temperature before rolling. This recipe is basic many times I’ve added herbs for a different spin on my dough when making a savory dish. As I always say, “Be creative and have fun”. Happy Cooking!
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups of All Purpose Flour
2 Sticks of Butter, Really cold, cut in 1/4 size cubes
1/2 Tablespoons Granulated Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon Sea Salt
7 Tablespoons Very Cold Water
Directions:
Mix all dry ingredients and place in your food processor, (Use standard metal blade). Can use hand cutter utensil if you do not have a food processor.
Add the cold Butter and Cold Water, Pulsing until it forms a dough ball, DO NOT over pulse.
I like to refrigerate dough for a few minutes before rolling. This makes it easier to handle,
Flour your surface and roll out the dough for your desired baking dish that you are using.
